Ireland’s unemployment rate dropped for the second straight month in October, though slightly, figures from the Central Statistics Office showed Tuesday.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 9.3 percent in October from 9.4 percent in September.

In the corresponding month of the previous year, the jobless rate was 10.6 percent.

The number of unemployed people decreased to 203,000 in October from 204,900 in the prior month. A year ago, the jobless figure totaled 227,900.

The youth unemployment rate, which applies to the 15 to 24 age group, also dropped for the second successive month to 19.7 percent in October from 20.4 percent in September.
