Ireland’s unemployment rate held steady in June after falling in the previous six months, figures from the Central Statistics Office showed Tuesday.
The seasonally adjusted jobless rate came in at 7.8 percent in June, the same rate as in the previous month.
In the corresponding month last year, the unemployment rate was 9.4 percent.
The number of unemployed people decreased to 169,100 in June from 169,600 in the previous month. A year ago, the jobless figure totaled 203,700.
The youth unemployment rate, which applies to the 15 to 24 age group, climbed to 15.3 percent in June from 15.1 percent in May.
