Ireland’s retail sales increased for the second straight month in May, preliminary figures from the Central Statistics Office showed Tuesday.

Retail sales volume rose a seasonally adjusted 0.7 percent month-over-month in May, but slower than the 0.9 percent climb in April.

On an annual basis, retail sales growth accelerated to 8.1 in May from 5.2 in the previous month.

Excluding motor vehicle trade, the volume of retail sales went up 1.2 percent from the preceding month and it grew 6.5 percent from May 2015.

In value terms, retail sales climbed 5.3 percent annually and by 0.6 percent monthly in May.
