Italy’s EU measure of inflation declined slightly in April, revised from a flat reading estimated earlier, final data from the statistical office Istat showed Wednesday.

The harmonized index of consumer prices, or HICP, fell 0.1 percent year-over-year in April, after staying flat in the previous month. In the flash report, the reading was also zero.

On a monthly basis, the HICP rose 0.4 percent in April, revised down from a 0.5 percent increase estimated in the preliminary report, slower than March’s 2.1 percent climb. It was the third consecutive monthly rise.

The consumer price index dropped for the second straight month in April by 0.3 percent, after a 0.1 percent fall in the previous month. In the preliminary report, the reading showed no variations.

Month-on-month, consumer prices climbed 0.4 percent in April, faster than a 0.3 percent increase initially estimated. In March, prices had risen 2.1 percent.
