Italy’s consumer confidence improved unexpectedly in November, figures from the statistical office Istat showed Friday.
The consumer confidence index climbed for the fourth straight in November to 118.4 from 117.0 in October, which was revised from 116.9. Economists had expected the index to fall slightly to 116.5.
Consumer confidence was the highest in more than three years.
At the same time, the index measuring manufacturing confidence fell to 104.6 in November from 105.7 in the previous month. It was expected to rise to 106.0
The overall business confidence index rose marginally to 107.1 in November from 107.0 in the preceding month.
