Hourly wages in Italy increased in April, after staying flat in the previous two months, figures from the statistical office Istat showed Thursday.

Hourly contractual wages rose 0.2 percent in April, after showing no variations in February and March.

On an annual basis, wages climbed at a faster pace of 1.2 percent in April, following a 1.0 percent increase in the preceding month. Among the main macro sectors, wages in the private sector grew 1.6 percent, while wages in the public sector remained unchanged.

In the January to April period, hourly wages climbed 1.1 percent compared with the corresponding period last year.
