Italy’s foreign trade surplus increased in November from a year ago, as exports rose faster than imports, figures from the statistical office Istat showed Monday.

The trade surplus climbed to EUR 4.4 billion in November from EUR 3.4 billion in the corresponding month of the previous year. In October, the surplus was EUR 4.8 billion.

Exports surged 6.4 percent year-over-year in November, reversing a 1.4 percent fall in October. Imports rose 3.8 percent after showing no variations in the preceding month.

On a monthly basis, both exports and imports grew by 3.5 percent and 1.4 percent, respectively in November.
