Automobile production in Japan declined for the eighth consecutive month in February, figures from the Japan Automobile Manufactures Association showed Tuesday.
Production volume of vehicles fell 5.3 percent year-over-year, or by 46,062 units to 817,390 units in February.
Domestic automobile demand decreased 14.7 percent annually to 482,103 units in February.
Automobile exports dropped 0.3 percent annually in February, after rising in the previous two months.
Exports to Asia fell the most, by 21.8 percent. At the same time, shipments to Middle-East grew by 16.0 percent.
Motor cycle production came in at 50, 079 units in February, down by 11.2 percent from the same month of the previous year. Motorcycle exports in February declined by 2.4 percent from a year ago.
