Core machine orders in Japan advanced 2.9 percent on month in March, the Cabinet Office said on Monday.
That beat forecasts for an increase of 1.5 percent following the downwardly revised 1.4 percent decline in February) originally -0.4 percent).
On a yearly basis, core machine orders added 2.6 percent – also topping expectations for a decline of 6.0 percent following the 5.9 percent gain in the previous month.
The total number of machinery orders, including those volatile ones for ships and from electric power companies, climbed 1.8 percent on month and 7.8 percent on year.
