The average of household spending in Japan was down 4.4 percent on year in December, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said on Friday – coming in at 318,254 yen.
That missed forecasts for a decline of 2.5 percent following the 2.9 percent drop in November.
The average of monthly income per household stood at 900,229 yen, down 2.9 percent on year.
The average of consumption expenditures per household was 340,474 yen, down 5.0 percent on year.
