Producer prices in Japan were down 0.2 percent on month in February, the Bank of Japan said on Thursday.
That was beneath expectations for a fall of 0.3 percent following the downwardly revised 1.0 percent contraction in January (originally -0.9 percent).
On a yearly basis, prices tumbled 3.4 percent – matching forecasts following the downwardly revised 3.2 percent decline in the previous month (originally -3.1 percent).
Export prices fell 0.2 percent on month and 5.2 percent on year, the bank said, while import prices tumbled 2.9 percent on month and 15.1 percent on year.
