Producer prices in Japan were up 0.2 percent on year in May, the Bank of Japan said on Friday.
That topped forecasts for 0.1 percent following the upwardly revised 0.3 percent gain in the previous month (originally 0.2 percent).
On a monthly basis, producer prices were flat following the 0.1 percent contraction in April.
Among the individual components, prices were up for advertising and real estate, and down for leasing and finance.
