Japan’s supermarket sales increased further in August, but at a slower pace than in the previous month, a report from the Chain Store Association showed Thursday.

Supermarket sales, after adjustment, rose 2.0 percent in August, following a 1.9 percent gain in July. Before adjustment, sales grew 2.8 percent.

On a monthly basis, supermarket sales went up 1.2 percent in August.
