Thursday, Universal, a unit of Comcast Corp (NASDAQ:CMCAS) announced that a sequel to Jurassic World will be released on Friday, 22 June 2018.
Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will return to star.
Jurassic World’s director Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly, who did a rewrite on Jurassic World,will write the script for the sequel.
Jurassic World rounded out the Top 5 in its 6th outing last weekend with $11.4-M for a domestic total of $611.1-M for Universal. Internationally, the blockbuster beat the $900-M box office mark to finish last Sunday with an estimated $1.513-B, overtaking fellow Universal title Furious 7 to become the # 4 title of all time.
Universal had a super box office last weekend with 3 titles in the Top 5 domestically, the 1st time that’s happened since Y 2003. And Minions finished Sunday with an estimated global take of $625.8-M.
