Lamar Odom a Sobering Message to Society

Lamar Joseph Odom is an American former professional basketball player. As a member of the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association, he won NBA championships in 2009 and 2010 and was named the NBA Sixth Man of the Year in 2011.

Odom was found unresponsive at a Nevada brothel called the Love Ranch last Tuesday, following a three-day stay at the establishment. Police were told that he had used cocaine and sexual-enhancement supplements in the preceding days.

In general, the outlook for Odom is far better than at the end of last week, with the former NBA Sixth Man of the Year and two-time world champion with the Los Angeles Lakers able to communicate with family members, walk a few steps and spend some time out of bed resting in a chair.

He is expected to receive extensive therapy in order to improve his physical capabilities and brain tests to ascertain whether his mental function has been affected by his collapse will be undertaken, the person said.

“It’s so sad when people search so hard to self medicate the disease of addiction. With just a moment of clarity, recognition of mistakes and gratefulness for a person’s life, one can lead themselves to treatment for the disease of addiction. Thereafter, sober living gives them the opportunity to practice what they learned in treatment and transition back into being productive members of society. I give my regards to him and his family.” Tyler Cornell Chairman, President & CEO TOCCA Life Holdings, Inc. OTC Markets: TLIF

The Other Cancer Called Addiction

“When TOCCA Life owner Tyler Cornell first came up with the acronym TOCCA – The Other Cancer Called Addiction – he was thinking what if addiction got as much attention as cancer does. As a disease, it does many of the same things, ravaging the body and mind. But cancer patients are given respectful treatment while addicts often feel rejected by the health and insurance systems. They are also similar in that both cancer and addiction wound, leaving scars. TOCCA Life and TOCCA House are respectful of those wounds and scars, which get better every day with the right attention and care.” Judy Kirkwood – TOCCA Life

Sober living homes or halfway houses are for people who are recovering from addiction issues.

If you or a loved one is trying to stop drinking or using drugs, sober living homes may be an option for you.

Sober Living, the road to recovery

People who live in sober homes have to follow certain rules and contribute to the home by doing chores. Most importantly, residents must stay sober throughout their stay in the home.

Living in this type of environment can support sobriety and help alcoholics and addicts adjust to life without their addictions.

Many addicts use sober housing to help them transition from rehab to living independently without using drugs or alcohol.

All you have to do is want to stop.

Recovery is the addict’s answer to a personal cry for help and his willingness to break the chains of addiction.

After losing their way in society and finding themselves psychologically stranded, they must learn to ask for help.

By applying willpower and demonstrating the courage to confront the realities of life, they must be ready to discipline themselves and follow a structured recovery program in a Sober Living Residence.

This will improve an addict’s prospect for a healthy, balanced, and meaningful life, a TOCCA Life.

Regardless of what substance they are abusing the cornerstone of success is his admission he has a problem.
