Latvia’s consumer prices dropped for the second straight month in September, figures from the Central Statistical Bureau showed Monday.

The consumer price index edged down 0.2 percent in September, slower than the 0.5 percent decrease in the previous month. In July, prices had risen 0.1 percent.

Transport costs declined 6.1 percent in September from a year ago and food prices went down by 0.3 percent. At the same time, housing costs grew 1.3 percent.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.3 percent in September, reversing a 0.1 percent slight fall in August. It was the first increase in five months.
