Latvia’s consumer prices increased marginally in August after staying flat in the previous month, figures from the Central Statistical Bureau showed Tuesday.
The consumer price index edged up 0.1 percent year-over-year in August after showing no variations in July. In June, prices had risen 0.6 percent.
Housing costs grew 2.1 percent in August from a year ago and prices of alcohol and tobacco rose by 2.9 percent. At the same time, transport costs declined 4.4 percent and food prices went down by 1.3 percent.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices dropped 0.5 percent in August, slower than prior month’s 1.0 percent fall. It was the third successive monthly decrease.
