Latvia’s current account balance turned to a surplus in September from a deficit in the previous year, figures from the Latvian Central Bank showed Wednesday.
The current account showed a surplus of EUR 45.48 million in September against a deficit of EUR 69.16 million in the corresponding period last year. In August, the shortfall was EUR 76.34 million.
The goods trade deficit narrowed to EUR 102.89 million in September from EUR 198.24 million a year ago. At the same time, the surplus on services trade dropped slightly to EUR 136 million from EUR 141.56 million.
Meanwhile, the capital account turned to a mere deficit of EUR 0.48 million in September from a surplus of EUR 61.31 million a year earlier.
The financial account balance showed a deficit of EUR 274.78 million after posting surplus EUR 26.96 million in the same period of the prior year.
