Latvia’s foreign trade deficit decreased in October from a year ago, as imports fell faster than exports, figures from the Central Statistical Bureau showed Thursday.
The trade deficit narrowed to EUR 88.7 million in October from EUR 121.4 million in the corresponding month of the previous year. In September, the shortfall was EUR 115.9 million.
Exports fell 6.5 percent year-over-year in October and imports dipped by 8.6 percent.
On a monthly basis, exports grew 2.8 percent in October, while imports edged down by 0.04 percent.
The country’s main export partners during September were Lithuania, Estonia, Germany and Poland. Imports largely came from Lithuania, Germany, Poland and Estonia.
