Lithuania’s unemployment rate declined marginally in the three months ended March, figures from Statistics Lithuania showed Monday.
The unemployment rate fell to 10.0 percent in the first quarter from 10.1 percent in the previous quarter. In the corresponding period last year, the jobless rate was 12.4 percent.
The number of unemployed people decreased to 145,800 in the three-month period to March from 147,800 in the December quarter. A year ago, the jobless figure totaled 183,400.
At the same time, the unemployment rate among youth aged between 15 and 24, climbed to 19.9 percent in the March quarter from 18.3 percent in the preceding three months. A year earlier, the rate was 21.2 percent.
