Statistics Canada is set to release GDP data for September at 8:30 am ET Tuesday. The economy is expected to grew by 0.1 percent on month, matching the pace of growth recorded a month earlier.

Ahead of the data, the loonie showed performance against the other major currencies. While the loonie held steady against the greenback and the euro, it advanced against the yen. Against the aussie, the loonie declined.

The loonie was worth 1.3315 against the greenback, 92.49 against the yen, 1.4118 against the euro and 0.9706 against the aussie as of 8:25 am ET.
