Malaysia’s unemployment rate held steady in April, figures from the Department of Statistics showed Friday.

The jobless rate came in at 3.5 percent in April, the same rate as in the previous month. In the corresponding month last year, the unemployment rate was 3.0 percent.

The seasonally adjusted jobless rate rose marginally to 3.6 percent in April from 3.5 percent in March.

The number of unemployed people increased o 511,500 in April from 509,500 in the preceding month. A year ago, the jobless figure totaled 433,300.

The labor force participation rate came in at 67.7 percent in April, down from 67.9 percent a month ago.
