Malaysia’s unemployment rate declined and labor force participation improved in March, the Department of Statistics reported Monday.
The jobless rate dropped to 3 percent in March from 3.2 percent in February. This decline reflects a fall of 24,100 in number of unemployed. In March 2014, the unemployment rate was 3 percent.
The seasonally adjusted rate also fell to 3 percent from 3.2 percent.
The number of unemployed people declined 5,300 to 430,800 from 454,900 in February.
The labor force participation rate came in at 67.7 percent versus 67.4 percent in February. From the same period of last year, it gained 0.8 percentage point.
