The Malaysian ringgit weakened against the U.S. dollar in the Asian session on Monday.
In other economic news, data from the Department of Statistics showed that Malaysia’s unemployment rate came in at 3.2 percent in August, the same rate as in the previous month. In the corresponding month last year, the jobless rate was 2.7 percent.
Against the greenback, the ringgit fell to a 4-day low of 4.2865. At Friday’s close, the ringgit was trading at 4.2220 against the greenback.
If the ringgit extends its downtrend, it is likely to find support around the 4.40 area.
