In today’s odd news item, ABC7 reports that Washington D.C. police and fire officials are investigating a possible hazmat situation after a man drove his truck onto the National Mall.
The man claims he has a dangerous substance in his truck. D.C. Fire officials confirm they have been called to assist police with the situation, which they say might include a mentally unfit subject.

U.S. Capitol Police and U.S. Park Police are on scene and are in contact with the man. The investigation is at 3rd St and Madison Dr NW. Officials say 3rd St SW between Independence Ave SW and Constitution Ave NW is closed an they ask the public to avoid the area.
According to the latest CBS update, the man has been arrested.
