Norway’s unemployment rate dropped as expected in September after remaining stable in the previous month, the Labour and Welfare Administration, or NAV said Friday.

The registered unemployment rate fell to 2.9 percent in September from 3.1 percent in August, the same rate as in July. The figure was also came in line with expectations.

In the corresponding month last year, the jobless rate was 2.7 percent.

The number of unemployed people decreased to 79,623 in September from 84,702 in the preceding month. A year ago, the jobless figure totaled 74,138.
