Norway’s unemployment rate rose in April, the Labour and Welfare Administration or NAV said Monday.

The jobless rate rose to 3 percent, in line with expectations, from 2.8 percent in the same period of last year. The number of job seekers totaled 95,900, which was 4,500 more than in April last year.

In February, the jobless rate came in at 4.1 percent, up 0.3 percentage points from November, a report released by Statistics Norway showed last week.

According to labor force survey, there was an increase of 21,000 in the number of unemployed persons in the first quarter from last year.
