The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development downgraded global growth projection as the outlook worsened further for many emerging market economies.

Global growth will remain sub-par in 2015, the OECD said in its Interim Economic Outlook released Wednesday. Some strengthening in growth is expected in 2016, but doubts about future potential growth continue to build.

The global economy is forecast to grow 3 percent in 2015 and 3.6 percent next year. The outlook for this year was lowered from 3.1 percent and that for 2016 from 3.8 percent.

The US will grow 2.4 percent this year and 2.6 percent in 2016, the OECD said. and Japan is projected to grow 0.6 percent in 2015 and 1.2 percent in 2016.

The euro area is projected to grow at a 1.6 percent rate in 2015 and a 1.9 percent pace in 2016.
