‘Papa: Hemingway in Cuba’ Opens On 29 April

Ernest “Papa” Hemingway was a lead cheerleader for a good daiquiri and the island off the coast of Florida.

“You look just like the Old Man and the Sea,” shouts a Gung-ho tourist to the author in the 1st trailer for “Papa: Hemingway in Cuba”.

The Bob Yari-directed film centers on a Miami Globe journalist Denne Petitclerc, played by Giovanni Ribisi, an avid Ernest Hemingway fan who gets an invitation from the famous author (Adrian Sparks) to go on a fishing trip.

The film takes place in Y 1959, when Papa Hemingway is on his 4th major work, and Fidel Castro’s guerrillas are beginning get a foothold in Cuba’s cities.

In the trailer, we see the literary giant at odds with the FBI, leftist rebels and his own drinking.

‘Papa: Hemingway in Cuba’ was the 1st feature film shot in the island nation in over 50 years, since the Revolution. Production on the film was completed in Y 2014 ahead of the Obama led detante.

‘Papa’ opens in US theaters on 29 April.
