Portugal’s producer prices declined at a faster pace in September, figures from Statistics Portugal showed Monday.

The producer price index fell 4.1 percent year-over-year in September, faster than the 3.2 percent decrease in the previous month. The latest drop was the fastest since January, when prices had fallen 4.2 percent.

Excluding energy, producer prices rose 0.2 percent in September from a year ago, the agency said.

Prices in the manufacturing sector dipped 4.8 percent annually in September and that for utility sector went down by 1.0 percent.

On a monthly basis, producer prices dropped 1.1 percent in September, which was worse than the 0.9 percent fall in the prior month. It was the fourth month of decrease in a row.
