Portugal’s producer prices continued to decline in August, and at a faster pace than in the previous month, figures from Statistics Portugal showed Thursday.
The producer price index slipped 3.2 percent year-over-year in August, following a 2.5 percent decrease in July. The latest rate of drop was the fastest since February, when prices had fallen 3.4 percent.
Excluding energy, producer prices edged up 0.2 percent in August from a year ago, the agency said.
Prices in the manufacturing sector declined 3.6 percent in August and that for utility sector went down by 1.0 percent.
On a monthly basis, producer prices fell 0.8 percent in August, which was worse than the 0.3 percent decrease in the preceding month. It was the third month of fall in a row.
