Portugal’s foreign trade deficit decreased in the three months ended September from a year ago, as exports rose and imports fell, figures from Statistics Portugal showed Monday.
The trade deficit narrowed to EUR 2.63 billion in the third quarter from EUR 3.04 billion in the corresponding period last year.
Exports climbed 3.2 percent year-over-year in the three-month period to September, while imports dropped by 0.3 percent.
In September, exports grew 1.9 percent annually, but slower than previous month’s 2.7 percent gain. At the same time, imports fell 1.0 percent, in contrast to a 1.7 percent climb in August.
