After the release of U.K. retail sales for April at 4:30 am ET Thursday, the pound climbed against its major rivals.
The pound was trading at 1.5634 against the greenback, 1.4563 against the franc, 0.7144 against the euro and 188.95 against the yen around 4:33 am ET.
