At 4:30 am ET Wednesday, the Bank of England is scheduled to publish mortgage approvals data for June. The number of mortgages approved for house purchases is forecast to rise to 66,000 in June from 64,400 in May.
Ahead of the data, the pound showed mixed trading against its major rivals. While the pound held steady against the euro, the Swiss franc and the yen, it fell against the U.S. dollar
As of 4:25 am ET, the pound was trading at 0.7081 against the euro, 1.5036 against the Swiss franc, 1.5602 against the U.S. dollar and 192.95 against the yen.
