At 4:30 am ET Wednesday, U.K. CIPS/Markit services PMI is due. Economists expect the index to fall marginally to 55.4 in January from 55.5 in December.
Ahead of the data, the pound trimmed its early losses against the other major currencies.
The pound was quoted at 1.4429 against the greenback, 172.84 against the yen, 0.7563 against the euro and 1.4682 against the franc at 4:25 am ET.
