The European Commission gave the thumbs up to German brewing company Anheuser-Busch Inbev’s acquisition of SABMiller worth $104 billion. The deal is said to be one of the largest corporate merger in the industry.
AB Inbev is the world’s largest brewery and the maker of world famous alcoholic drinks such as Budweiser and Stella Artois.
EU Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager said that AB Inbev should sell the majority of SABMiller’s beer brands in Europe. SABMiller’s Grolsch, Peroni, and recently-acquired Meantime will be sold to Japanese brewery Asahi Group Holdings.
