The Canadian dollar steadied versus the US dollar in a mute trading on Tuesday, following oil prices edged higher.
US crude closed at $61.01 a barrel, while Brent crude ended at $64.65.
The loonie closed at 81.08 US cents from Monday’s 81.13 US cents.
Realistically speaking, we need a juicier set of figures before things will surge “with any real strength,” said Mark Chandler, Head of Canadian Fixed Income and Currency Strategy at RBC Capital Markets.
Its direction has been pressed by outside forces, with no local economic data to ignite its moves this week.
