Massive confidential documents exposed how the world’s richest and most powerful people maximize tax havens to hide their wealth.
Some 11 million documents were leaked from Mossack Fonseca, one of the most secretive companies worldwide, showing how the Panamanian law firm assisted clients in evading sanctions and taxes, as well as laundering money.
Data from the documents also reflected connections to 73 current or previous heads of state, including dictators accused of graft and corruption.
For 40 years, Mossack Fonseca has operated beyond reproach has never been accused of any wrongdoing.
International Consortium of Investigative Journalists Director Gerard Ryle said the papers will perhaps the largest blow the world has ever seen due to its extensive coverage.
