Manufacturing orders in January slid in January, as recuperating eurozone failed to counter disappointing domestic orders.

According to the country’s economics ministry, total orders for the manufacturing sector tumbled 0.1% from 0.2% in December, adjusted for seasonal swings and calendar effects. Foreign orders surged 1.0% as demand from the remainder of the region rallied, but domestic orders fell 1.6%.

On an annual basis, total orders for the country’s manufacturing sector slipped 1.8% from a year ago.
