Hokuriku Electric Power Co. has started constructing an 8-megawatt wind power station in the western prefecture of Fukui, the utility said on Monday.

The station, which will start running in January 2017, is being developed and will be operated by a wholly owned unit, the statement added. The plant will produce enough electricity to power the equivalent of 4,000 homes for a year.
