Shufersal supermarket chain said its first quarter profit quadrupled, helped by higher sales and cost-cutting measures.

The chain, which is the largest in Israel, reported a 53 million shekels ($14 million) net profit in the Jan-March period compared to last year’s 13 million.

Company revenue grew 0.8 percent to 2.9 billion shekels.
