The Japanese yen weakened on Friday following the Bank of Japan retains its policy and the positive assessment of the economy.

The currency closed at ¥139.90 per euro, ¥122.98 per US dollar, ¥195.43 per British pound, and ¥133.51 per Swiss franc.

BOJ is now purchasing government bonds at an ¥80 million pace, saying the economy continues to recuperate moderately.

Markets will await BOJ Governor Haruhiko Kuroda’s post-meeting conference later on the day to talk over the central bank’s decision.
