Kyrgyzstan President Almazbek Atambayev’s office said in a statement that state prosecutors have been ordered to review the agreements’ legality signed with Canadian gold mining company Centerra Gold in 2003-2004 and 2009.
Centerra operates Kumtor, the biggest gold mine in Kyrgyzstan. The Toronto-based company has been in a bitter dispute with the Central Asian nation’s government over profit sharing.
