Mitsubishi Motors Corp. is projecting to pay damages of around $600 million to compensate around 625,000 owners of the four models of mini vehicles where the automaker overstated the fuel economy readings. Each owner is estimated to receive 100, 000 yen or $690 according to the Nikkei newspaper.

The car company confessed in April that it falsified data of the fuel economy of the mini vehicle models, including two that were manufactured for Nissan motor Co. It stated that inappropriate calculations may have been also used for 9 other models.
