Takata Corp. plans to outline its business outlook at this week’s meeting to measure how receptive automakers will be to providing financial assistance.

A person knowledgeable about the matter said the air bag supplier seeks to hold the meeting to quell rumors encompassing the company. The source added Takata wants to tell the carmakers it will ask for financial aid as well.

Honda Motor Co. and Nissan Motor Co. confirmed they received invitations to such a meeting but did not provide additional details. Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd., Mazda Motor Corp., and Toyota Motor Corp. were not able to give a comment immediately.

Takata spokesperson Toyohiro Hishikawa refused to comment.
