The consumer sentiment index of the U.S. plunged 1.7 percentage points in June, falling for the 2 months in a row, and to its lowest level this year, a survey released showed.

The Thomson Reuters/IPSOS Primary Consumer Confidence Sentiment Index fell to 55.0 in June from 56.7 in May.

The survey was conducted between May 22 and June 5 and covered 1,000 adults.
