Chancellor George Osborne will prioritize housebuilding at the center of his Spending Review by rewarding private developers for building affordable houses, as lack of supply continues to increase property prices throughout the United Kingdom.

The UK official is set announce doubling the annual housing budget, which will see 400,000 new homes constructed across the country. Over £2 billion ($3 billion) of public money will be set aside to developers to establish starter houses.

Also, Osborne will say the Treasury will allocate £4 billion to support housing associations and local authorities, as well as private developers create 135,000 shared-ownership houses under the Help to Buy program.
