The US economy will expand to its slowest in four years as skepticism about this year’s presidential election weighs on the outlook.

According to a poll of 48 economists by the National Association for Business Economics, the gross domestic product is awaited to grow 1.9% in 2016 on a quarterly basis, previously 2%.

The survey said nearly 60% of respondents uncertainty about the November presidential election will greatly affect the economy.

The NABE released the poll, which was administered from May 2 to 17, before the release of monthly jobs data.

Meanwhile, the institution’s panel expects the American economy to gain traction next year, with GDP surging 2.3%.
