The number of footfall across retail outlets in the United Kingdom fell by 2.7 percent, according to the British Retail Consortium (BRC)/Springboard Footfall and Vacancies Monitor.
UK’s high streets saw a 3.9 percent decline from March to April 2 due to the cold spring weather. BRC Chief Executive Helen Dickinson said that the negative numbers were caused by the Easter falling in March instead of April.
Stores in the East and South East experienced the most losses recording a 3.5 percent and 3.3 percent decline, respectively.
