Romania’s construction output increased in May from a year ago, figures from the National Institute of Statistics showed Monday.

The volume of construction works grew a seasonally and working-day-adjusted 7.0 percent year-over-year in May. On an unadjusted basis, it expanded by 4.7 percent.

Among sectors, the volume of construction works surged by 19.8 percent in non-residential building and that for civil engineering advanced by 6.6 percent. Meanwhile, residential buildings sector registered a decline of 17.5 percent.

On a monthly basis, construction output fell a seasonally and working-day-adjusted 2.8 percent in May. Without adjustment, the index gained 12.3 percent.
